Khampa Treks & Khampa Arts

Khampa Nomad Arts Center and Ecolodge:

We have 4 guest rooms, three of which face east toward Mt. Zhakra and the sunrise, and one facing west toward the high plateau and the sunset. They are theme-painted with local animals, birds, and fish (and some mystical creatures). All 4 have private baths. At the moment, showers are still cold (we need more solar power), but the Sichuan Cedar sauna is working and is wonderful (particluarly with a dip in the river afterward). The rooms are insulated to Alaska standards, and have either single or double beds. All have wonderful views.

At the moment (Winter 2018 we charge CNY 460 per room (double occupancy), including a big Western breakfast with coffee, our homemade yak butter and honey muesli, local bacon, and some combination of sweet and savory items. For dinner and lunch, we have a menu featuring homegrown salads and local ingredients like yak meat, yak butter, and yak cheese. Alternatively, you can pay 620 yuan for bed, breakfast, and dinner for two, with a set meal (tell us what type) and a good beer. Sauna is included too with either option.

Our primary goal is to provide guests a home-like atmosphere and the best possible service. We ourselves love to stay in family-run guesthouses, and this is what we want to provide to you. We are also glad to share everything we know about Tibetan culture, and to act as a travel resource for this area. We enjoy long talks with guests. We also are happy to offer an atmosphere of peace and quiet, so different from cities below.
